When an organization decides to implement Lean Six Sigma on an enterprise-wide level, large groups of employees are often trained at the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt level to establish a strong foundation.
The organization’s vision and strategy regarding continuous improvement form the basis for this training. Teaching the Lean Six Sigma methodology and some of the more practical tools are part of the training process. The specific Lean Six Sigma tools included in the training can vary depending on the objectives of the improvement program, making this training level ‘Fit For Purpose.’
The Yellow Belt level is suitable for anyone who wants to learn the basic principles of Lean Six Sigma and the key Lean Six Sigma tools. Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belts have experience with processes in daily practice and are therefore ideal team members for Kaizen projects, such as Green and Black Belt projects.
Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belts are also responsible for improving operational performance within a specific department or production line. This can involve reducing lead times, solving problems, or improving quality. Activities may include 5S, implementing visual management techniques, contributing to the development of standards, or participating in brainstorming sessions.
We recommend first studying the Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt theory book and the Lean Six Sigma Yellow & Orange Belt practice book before taking the exam. These can be purchased via the buttons below.
